DATA RECOVERY
|
DATA RECOVERY Data recovery is the process of salvaging data from damaged, failed, corrupted or inaccessible storage media, when it cannot be accessed normally. Often the data is salvaged from storage such as hard disk drives, backup tapes, thumb drives, CDs, DVDs, or other electronic devices.
Recovery may be required due to physical damage to the storage device
or to the file system that prevents it from being mounted by the
operating system. Another scenario involves disk-level failure, such as a compromised file system, or disk partition, or a hard disk failure. In any of these cases, the data cannot be easily read. Depending on the situation, solutions involve repairing the file system, partition table or master boot record, or the use of hard disk recovery techniques ranging from software-based recovery of corrupted data to actual hardware replacement on a physically damaged disk.
In a third scenario, files have been "deleted" from a storage media. Typically, deleted files are not erased immediately; instead, references to them in a file allocation table or the directory structure are removed and the space they occupy is made "available" for overwriting. In the meantime, provided additional data has not occupied the same space, the original file may still be restored.
Data Protection and Loss Prevention. We specialize in data loss prevention and system recovery. This includes damage or loss of data due to any nature; any loss, of any kind.
Recovering Data after Physical Damage. A wide variety of failures can cause physical damage to storage media. CD-ROMs can have their metallic substrate, or dye-layer scratched off; hard disks can suffer any of several mechanical failures, such as failed motors.
Physical damage always causes at least a partial data loss and in many
cases the logical structures of the file system are damaged as well. We
can recover partial files and partial photos, that other recovery companies cannot. We specialize in single drive data recovery, either physical, or logical damage. We do not currently recover 'spanned data' from across several hard drives such as on RAID Arrays. We are affiliated with 'data recovery' labs nationwide, and if necessary, (and if you approve) we can ship your drive to one of these special laboratories for 'clean-room' rebuilding - which can cost many thousands of dollars is most cases, to recover precious data, but this is a "last resort" measure. |
